Spiritual Priorities for Your Graduate

As my sons move into adulthood, I want to give them God’s perspective on success. Hi, I’m Lysa TerKeurst for Proverbs 31 Ministries.

Most of us know that an education isn’t enough anymore. At least one college degree is required for most entry-level positions. Add today’s standard of living, retirement plans, insurance, and we have a generation struggling to heed Jesus’ words: “You can’t serve both God and money.”

The authors of The Pocket Guide for Parents suggest we sit down with our children as they’re getting ready to graduate high school to talk about what it means to put the kingdom of God first in our lives.

We might want to discuss things with them like:
- What’s the right occupation considering their unique makeup?
- How much time should be devoted to work?
- Can you make too much money?

And, we can talk with them about living modestly so they can give to others generously. For more parenting ideas, visit Proverbs 31 Ministries at proverbs31.org.
