When God Says No!

“Why is God punishing me!?” Hi, I'm Renee Swope with Proverbs 31 Ministries. Sometimes, when tough things happen or I simply don’t get the things I want, it’s easy to think God’s punishing for me something I did wrong. But the Bible says that God uses these times to help us grow. Think about how parents teach their child. They don’t let her raid the cookie jar before dinner, and they make her eat vegetables she doesn't like. They don’t do these things because she needs to be punished. They do it because they love her. Teaching her good habits now will help her make good decisions later. In the same way, God lets us go through hard times, or says “no” to something we ask Him for - because He loves us. The adversity can make our trust in Him stronger, and it helps us to make right choices in the future. To learn more about trusting God’s when He says “no,” or to sign up for our free daily devotions, visit Proverbs 31 ministries at proverbs31.org.
