How do you share the Christmas story with your kids? Hi, I’m Lysa TerKeurst for Proverbs 31 Ministries. If you’d like some creative ways to help your kids understand the meaning of Jesus’ birth, start by reading books to them that include stories paralleling the meaning of Christmas. Two of my favorites are One Wintry Night by Ruth Bell Graham, and The Crippled Lamb by Max Lucado. After you read the story you can talk about it with your kids to help them understand more about why Jesus was born as a gift for us.
Other ways to bring the story to life for your children include using visual aids such a flannel graph, a nativity scene, candles, or tree ornaments. One of my favorite traditions is to bake cookies that tell the story of Jesus’ birth through the shapes of a star, a bell, a heart, an angel and a tree.
